Cardboard Boxes and bags are the staple for moving - whether you’re using plastic boxes and under bed storage containers, or getting cardboard ones - using suitcases, or black and plastic plastic bags, you will need to think about how many you need and allow for extra.

Some other items that you will find incredibly useful in a move is newspaper, bubble wrap, and packing foam material. Some other items that I find are essential in a move include things like packing tape, marking pens and those sticky tags you can write on to label what is in the boxes.

If you have a lot of things to move, it might not be a really cost effective option to go out and buy a bunch of those plastic storage totes, though they would help to make some excellent storage containers for your new home. Boxes are a good, cheap alternative to plastic containers and can be bought from web sites, along with tape and stickers to mark your boxes.

Boxes for moving are a great way to pack things into regular spaces and makes them easier to carry. Some of the separate places that you can find cardboard boxes besides these retail and wholesale sites include your local grocery stores, craigs list, and even your local recycler. Some moving companies also supply them if you’re using their vans, or their moving men, or provide them if you are letting them pack for you.

For packing up clothing and linens, there really isn’t anything better than large plastic bags, but you want to make sure that you get the sturdy bags as you don’t want them to bust open on you during the move. another reason they are so great is that they fit in nicely where other things won’t in the truck.

There is no sense in buying inexpensive plastic bags for this though as if you do you will find that as soon as you go to pick one of them up it will bust it’s seams sometimes even if you double bag. When it comes to plastic bags you also need to be careful of snagging them on pointed objects as it does not take much to tear one especially if it has a lot of weight in it. You need to make sure that any of the containers that you buy for moving are stack able, preferably compatible with boxes, otherwise you will need to keep them all different and stack all of the boxes in the van first and then the other containers so you can make the most of the space you have available to you.
